Does maintaining physical fitness requires major lifestyle changes before getting started?

No! Fitness can be achieved through small changes in what you eat and your level of activity. It's really that simple. Remember that you can start out slowly; work your way up to a higher level of activity, and implement more dietary changes over time.

Should weight loss be the most important goal of fitness and exercise?

Losing weight is certainly not the only benefit of exercising and should therefore not be the main goal. If you're starting a fitness program, don't make weight loss your only goal! Strive to feel better or to have more energy. You'll get more out of your program if you notice the small payoffs that exercise provides in a very short amount of time.

How much do classes cost?

Nothing. Everyone is welcome. Optional opportunities to make a contribution will be offered but are not required to participate. To make a contribution, click Join Us above.

A desirable level of fitness can be achieved through as little as how many workouts per week?

Frequency, duration, intensity, and what kinds of exercises you do should be determined by what you are trying to accomplish. Your goals, your present fitness level, age, health, skills, interests, and convenience are among the factors you should consider. Still, you can reach your fitness goals in as little as three workouts per week!

What is trauma-informed fitness?

It is an empathetic approach to therapeutic movement. Movement can be an integral resource for helping to regulate the physiological symptoms of traumatic stress. Trauma-informed fitness helps participants explore strength training as a way to process and progress through traumatic events and their aftereffects, augmenting other therapeutic approaches. It is not limited by exercise modality. We offer trauma-informed options as varied as strength training, dance, mindfulness, and more.

Do any classes require equipment?

No. All you need is your body, you are more than enough! If you have an advanced fitness level, you can use weights to increase the intensity of your workouts.

Can children take classes?

Yes. Children above the age of 10 may take class so long as they are in the same physical room as their parent and/or guardian.

Are there health benefits to exercise?

Research shows that exercise is the silver bullet for a better quality of life. Not only does regular exercise aid in weight loss, it reduces your risk for several chronic diseases and conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure (hypertension), stroke, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and osteoporosis. Also, physical activity is one of the most important steps you can take to maintain mental health and quality of life.

Are these classes therapy or treatment?

No. These classes can be treated as an alternative therapeutic activity to complement other types of therapy or treatment as prescribed by a doctor or physical therapist. Check with your doctor before engaging in this or any other fitness program.
